What is Chiropractic?

Our brain and body communicate via the nervous system. Our brain is constantly sending and receiving millions of messages to all cells throughout the entire body. These messages control muscles, movement, hormones and glands, autonomic responses - basically every single function of the body.

When the nervous system is not functioning at its best, the whole body can suffer, it’s not all about back pain and neck pain, though these symptoms are good clues of dysfunction.

A chiropractor assesses the spine for motion and any neurological indicators, by checking the movable vertebrae and understanding how the body works as a whole, sometimes the issue is far from the site of pain - this is why understanding neurology as well as biomechanics is really important. Then the limb joints are investigated for compensations, pain and reduced range of motion.

A chiropractic adjustment is fast, accurate and precise. An adjustment improves two things;

Firstly - The function of the involved spinal segment or joint - so it moves better, receives blood flow, nutrients and increased range of motion

Secondly - Greater awareness of the brain to the area adjusted. Like a ‘reset button’ the brain quickly receives a barrage of critical information through the nervous system. This wakes up the brain to the area, all this new information provides the better decision making by the brain. The horse becomes less vulnerable to further or future injury. It also spurs on a process of self healing and self regulation.

Improved outcome for injuries and improved outcome for performance.
